Caring for a Labrakita
Feeding: The Labrakita should be fed dry, non-generic brand kibble at the rate of 4-5 cups a day.
Living with a Labrakita
Personality: The Labrakita is an intelligent and loyal dog who is easy to train with love and treats. They are cautious, yet non-threatening with strangers, immediately warm with children, affectionate towards family and the get along with other animals. They are somewhat capable of independence, or alone time when the house is noisy or full.
Family Dog: The Labrakita is great for exuberant play with other animals and older kids. They are tolerant of tail-pulling and being lain on by smaller children.
Shedding: The Labrakita is a heavy shedder all year long.
Grooming: The Labrakita requires major brushing during the spring/summer as they blows their coat twice a year and nominal brushing the rest of the year.
Behavior: The Labrakita is a mellow dog when nothing is going on and playful with dogs and older children. They like younger children and are extremely aware of weaknesses (like a broken leg or C-section). They typically will not jump on a person in pain or injured.
Barking: The Labrakita will bark at strangers, yet it can be difficult to teach them to "speak" on command. They do howl at trains and sound like "Chewbakka" during play with other dogs.
Exercise: The Labrakita needs long walks and time for fetching or playing with other dogs.
Physical Ability: The Labrakita is an energetic dog with plenty of stamina.
Labrakita Appearance
Appearance: The Labrakita is almost solid black with thick fur and a tail tightly curled up over the back. They have a very Lab like body in structure with some modifications noticeable due to the Akita.
Head: The muzzle of the Labrakita is not nearly as long-muzzled as the Lab, nor as short and square as the Akita.
Nose: The nose of the Labrakita is black in color.
Eyes: The eyes of the Labrakita are medium brown, well spaced and expressive.
Ears: The Labrakita has ears that are slightly smaller than a purebred Labrador Retriever's, with the same shape but slightly higher set due to the Akita.
Teeth/Bite: The Labrakita has a straight, even bite.
Body: The body of the Labrakita is right between the body of the Lab and the Akita. They are tall and long legged, but not as long in the body as a Lab with a more square appearance between height and length with nicely shaped feet, good bone and an upright stance.
Forequarters: The strong neck of the Labrakita slopes into nicely developed shoulders and chest, good muscle.
Hindquarters: The hindquarters of the Labrakita have a straight croup that drops into well muscled quarters, square stance, neither under nor over at the stifle.
Gait: The Labrakita has an elastic and springy gait.
Color: The coat of a Labrakita can be black with small amounts of white on the chest and belly or champagne and white in color.
Coat: The Labrakita has a thick, shiny, slightly hard top coat, with a dense undercoat that can sometimes resemble the coat of a Golden Retriever.

Health: One 5 year old spayed female Labrakita shows no signs of hip, joint, heart or organ concerns.
