Living with a Pitchow
Temperament: The Pitchow is a very independent and extreemly playfull dog.
Family Dog: The Pitchow is friendly with their family but can be wary of strangers and some do not like other dogs. They can tolerate children but would rather not be bothered by them.
Grooming: If the Pitchow has the shorter Pit coat it is very easy to care for. If they take after the Chow it will need more work.
Training: The Pitchow learns new tricks easily. They can be taught to walk on their hind legs, shake, beg, jump, sit, stay, rollover, fetch, tug and many other commands.
Barking: The Pitchow has been called a 'singer' instead of a barker. They will definitely let you know when someone comes to the door.
Exercise: The Pitchow needs a long daily walk and would love to run loose in safe area. Most love to swim.
Living Conditions: The Pitchow would not do well in an apartment or with a small yard. They should probably be an only pet as they do not do well with other dogs or animals.
Pitchow Appearance
Appearance: The Pitchow has many of the characteristics and appearance of the Pit Bull and would almost pass for pure pitbull if they are shaved. They may inherit the classic blue Chow Chow tongue or it may be spotted blue.
Size: A fully grown Pitchow can weigh up to 55 pounds.
Ears: The ears of the Pitchow are a mix between the thick erect ears of a Chow and the thin floppy ears of a Pitbull. It is not uncommon for one ear to be floppy while having the other one be erect.
Muzzle: The muzzle of the Pitchow is a tad shorter then that of a Pitbull.
Teeth/Bite: The Pitchow has the characteristic wide jaw and long purple tongue of the Pitbull.
Body: The Pitchow has a stocky but supple body.
Hindquarters: The hindquarters of the Pitchow are much like that of the Pitbull.
Feet: The feet of the Pitchow may be webbed.
Tail: The tail of the Pitchow can be curly.
Color: The coat of the Pitchow can be the classic Chow Chow red color, a rich brindle or Red with Pit Bull markings.
Coat: The coat of the Pitchow is a mix between the short Pitbull coat and the long Chow fur.
Pitchow Facts
Characteristics: The Pitchow typically does not like a lot of physical attention or to cuddle. They have a strong drive and are fearless dogs and like to show it. The Pitchow makes a good dog for pulling skiers or sleds.

Allergies: The Pitchow has no known allergies at this time.
Eye Health: The eyes of the Pitchow may be eary like the Chow Chow's.
Ear Health: The Pitchow may get a waxy build up and need to have their ears cleaned regurlarly.
