Rhett is now 17!!! We just lost his brother this summer 09 at age 16 as well. We owned the Afghan mother, Star who was blonde and the Doberman Pinscher dad, Hans. The entire litter was black and tan except one pup. Each pup had characteristics that were unique to the breed from which they came. Hair could be stiff, soft or the nose could be afghan or the tail more dobie. some pups had more of the aloof afghan personality, Rhett being one of them. All had short hair. Most had tails that curled over their backs.
