Samson's Story & Details
Sampson was a rescue. The original owner (male) had bought him but was then relocated to another state for work so he left him with his wife who was terrified of him. As he grew, she left his harness on and he ended up literally growing into the harness. She would keep him locked out in back porch through rain or shine. These are the tropics so he was left out during really bad rain and thunderstorms. I believe there were also kids who would throw things at him from the nearby paths.

My brother-in-law's uncle rescued him from this "home" and cured his injury from the harness. Sampson came to us a little over 6 months ago when he was about a year old with the harness marks still clearly visible on his shoulders where the hair was still growing back. When he arrived, despite being very affectionate and playful with everyone while we were outside and in the enclosed porch, we immediately noticed he was completely scared to come inside the house. Even when he did, he would stay near the door with his tail (that had been cut too short) tucked in (as much as it could be).

Needless to say, he receives TONS of love and affection from us. We're completely in love with this loyal and affectionate dog and he knows it! He has also helped cushion the blow since our Dalmatian (14 y/o) passed away towards the end of 2010. Sampson is still scared when it rains and needless to say, he runs to sleep under the bed if its thundering, but he's gradually learning to overcome these fears.

Because he is a rescue, we thought he was a Boxer, but we were still confused because he'd be a really BIG boxer. My father was convinced he had some mastiff in him so I started searching and came upon this site where another dog, Damien, looks EXACTLY like my Sampson. That's when we knew... Sampson is a BoxMas!
