Shortly after moving to Hillsdale in 2001, my husband and I decided that we'd like to have a dog, so we'd watch the access channel from time to time when the local shelter would feature the dogs they were currently housing. One day, while my husband was at work, I turned on the program. When Freddie's picture came up, I called my husband immediately and said that I'd found our dog. We rushed to the shelter and adopted what would become our most treasured gift : Friedrich von Hayek (named after an Austrian Economist). He was about 1 1/2 years old at the time, big and, by the size of his paws, still growing. We fell in love and have cherished every day with him since that first day. Our only regret is that we never got to see him as a puppy, as he was undoubtedly an adorable bundle of fur.
