I don't know what possessed me to log on to the Petfinder web site and look at available dogs in my hometown 1,200 miles away, but one evening I decided to see what kind of dachshunds needed to be rescued. I was looking for a full dachshund, so I initially skipped over the dachshund mix posted -- that was until I saw the thumbnail image. I opened the entry up and fell in love. I knew the sad and terrified looking dog in that picture was supposed to be mine to take care of. I forwarded it to my mom who felt so sorry for him that she went to visit him. Before I knew it, I had received a text with a picture of him saying that she'd adopted him. They've kept him for me until I can move into a house that allows pets, which I am happy to say will happen in November.

I went home and was able to visit with Weasley for a few days and it was as if HE knew that I was supposed to be his mama. He followed me everywhere and slept up in the bed snuggled up next to me. It was hard for both of us when I had to leave.

My parents are bringing him to live with me and my roommate when they visit for Thanksgiving. Just one of the many things I'm thankful for. I can't wait to be his full-time mama.
