We were a full animal family, having 5 dogs, all mixed breed rescues. My close friend's Chocolate Lab delivered a litter on the day Hurricane Ike hit our area. Three short weeks later she was the tragic victim of a hit and run automobile accident, which puzzled everyone as she rarely ventured toward the street when out of the fence. To assist with the puppies, we offered to take two of them as my husband is retired and stays at home. Bubba was the only puppy who appeared to not be pure labrador. His unique and beautiful markings together with his absolutely adorable personality made him a shoe in from day 1. A week or so later my friend was in her front yard and saw that her neighbor across the street has three great danes, one of which was a chocolate and white male and had dappling similar to Bubba's. This is when we determined that he was different looking for a reason. God has blessed our family so many times with such wonderful canine creatures. I hope others will always have an open heart when it comes to family size as we believe God will not give us more than we can handle. Teddy (Bubba's brother) has a wonderful home nearby and we are planning a play date in the near future. God Bless!
