Living with a Shi-Pom

Family Dog: The Shi-Pom can be a bit of a nippy dog and may not be good for small children. Otherwise they are playful, energetic and a bit of a comedian.

Shedding: The Shi-Pom is considered a low shedding dog.

Grooming: The Shi-Pom requires a good brushing every once in a while. They require more brushing as a puppy and when they shed the puppy coat.

Behavior: The Shi-Pom is a very playful, energetic little dog. They are very sweet, affectionate, playful dogs who love to cuddle. They also tend to be protective of their owners.

Barking: The Shi-Pom can be a yappy little dog that would make a good guard dog. They tend to bark at intruders or sometimes guests. They like to bark at anything unusual.

Exercise: A good romp and a bit of play around the house is fine, but a good long walk or run will let off a lot of energy.

Shi-Pom Appearance

Size: A fully grown Shi-Pom weighs around 15 pounds and stands about 15 inches tall at the shoulders.

Companionship: The Shi-Pom is a very loyal, loving dog who does not like to be left alone. They love to travel with you. They are playful, but can be a bit on the nippy side.

Nose: The Shi-Pom's nose can be spotted as a puppy but later turns black.

Eyes: The eyes of the Shi-Pom are dark and almond in shape.

Ears: The ears of the Shi-Pom stand erect.

Muzzle: The Shi-Pom has a small and narrow muzzle.

Neck: The neck of the Shi-Pom is long and thick.

Gait: The Shi-Pom has an almost regal and arrogant, quick paced gait with a very fox-like appearance.

Feet: The feet of the Shi-Pom are small in size.

Tail: The tail of the Shi-Pom can be short, fluffy and curl over the back.

Color: The coat of the Shi-Pom can vary. Some of the colorations include white and red, patched red, Sesame, Cream, White, Tan and Black Agouti.

Coat: The Shi-Pom's puppy coat is thick and cottony. However, that will shed and reveal a soft, thick coat that is very plush, with a more rough line of fur down the spine.
