Living with a Pomapoochi

Personality: The Pomapoochi is said to have a high level of intelligence along with being responsive and playful. They typically have very outgoing personalities but sociability with strangers will depend upon the personality of the individual dog.

Family Dog: The Pomapoochi does make a good family dog. However, because of their relatively small size it is wise to be careful around younger, rougher children due to the fact that the dog has a fragile bone structure.

Shedding: This mix is usually a low to medium shedding dog.

Grooming: The amount of grooming required will mainly depend on the length of your Pomapoochi's fur. If it is relatively short, you will have minimal grooming but if your Pomapoochi has a medium to long coat you will have to groom more often if you decide to keep the hair long and natural or the coat can be clipped to avoid this issue.

Training: The Pomapoochi is a smart dog with a high learning rate but can have a stubborn attitude at times.

Behavior: The Pomapoochi is a lively and playful dog who can also have a jealous streak.

Barking: The Pomapoochi can be somewhat yappy if not socialized enough. This mix is prone to bark if things do not seem right which makes Pomapoochis an excellent watch dog.

Exercise: The Pomapoochi should be taken on walks at least a few times a week.

Living Conditions: The Pomapoochi can live in a variety of spaces including apartments and homes with little to no yard.

Pomapoochi Appearance

Appearance: The Pomapoochi usually has upright, pointy ears, a prominent head and a small yet muscular body.

Size: Depending on the size of the maternal parents, Pomapoochis can range from six to twelve inches in height and weigh anywhere from under six to around ten pounds.

Companionship: The Pomapoochi can get very attached to its owner or family. They love to be cuddled often and will most likely follow you around the house.

Color: The coat of a Pomapoochi can come in many colors including black, white, spotted and even fawn colored with plenty of variation in shade and tone.

Coat: The coat characteristics of the Pomapoochi can vary from dog to dog and can either be straight, curly or wavy. The coat is soft and glossy ranging from short to medium in length. The length of the coat mainly depends on if the Chihuahua parent was a short or long haired type.

Pomapoochi Facts

Life Expectancy: The lifespan of the Pomapoo is around 13 to 16 years. The lifespan of the Chihuahua is around 15 to 18 years. A Pomapoochi can be expected to have a lifespan somewhere in either of those areas.

Pomapoochi Health

Allergies: Poodles are said to be hypoallergenic, a trait that the Pomapoochi may inherit. There are no major allergies specific to the individual breed that have been shown to plague this mix.

Health: Mixes are usually less plagued by the diseases common to their ancestors' breed; however, all three breeds associated with the Pomapoochi are prone to dental problems. This can be helped by feeding with high quality dry kibble and providing lots of chew toys and dental chews.
