Living with a Chusky
Temperament: The Chusky is an extremly smart, funny and playful dog, yet at the same time protective of their family and always alert.
Shedding: The Chusky is a heavy shedder.
Grooming: The Chusky needs to go in for a regular professional grooming and should be brushed at least once a week. During the warm months or in warmer climates the coat may be trimmed close.
Behavior: The Chusky can be laid back, loving and protective of people but many not be good with other dogs unless socialized very well as a puppy. They may suffer from separation anxiety and love to recieve affection.
Barking: The Chusky is not typically a barker.
Weather: The Chusky does not tolerate the heat very well. If you live in a hot climate they need to be an inside dog or have somewhere cool to get out of the heat.
Exercise: The Chusky is a combination of a working breed, so they need to be stimulated mentaly and the nonsporting Chow which makes them not as phyicaly demanding as the purebred Husky.
Chusky Appearance
Size: A fully grown Chusky can weigh between 40 to 65 pounds.
Companionship: The Chusky makes a wonderful companion dog.
Head: The head of the Chusky may more closely resemble that of tjhe Husky.
Nose: The nose of the Chusky is black in color.
Ears: The Chusky has ears that are similar to the Husky's.
Body: The Chusky has long legs and a lean body.
Forequarters: The forequarters of the Chusky are strong and straight.
Hindquarters: The Chusky may have turned in hocks like a Chow making them appear slightly knock-kneed.
Feet: The Chusky's feet are cat-like similar to the Chow's.
Tail: The tail of the Chusky resembles that of the Husky with 12" long hair.
Color: The coat of the Chusky can be a reddish gold color on top and fade to a cream and white color underneath. There coat can also be black in color with light red markings on the paws, brow and undertail.
Coat: The Chusky has a thick, heavy, dense double coat of flowing soft fur.
Chusky Health
Dental Health: The Chusky may suffer from a rare condition where some teeth in the middle of the sides of the mouth are missing.
