Personality: The Chiwoxy is a very intelligent and active dog who is eager to learn. They can also be stubborn at times.
Family Dog: The Chiwoxy makes a good family dog for families with older children. They can be too nippy for young children and may snap if they feel harassed or threatened. The Chiwoxy can become Dog aggressive if not properly socialized at a young age. This dog has been known to go on the offensive with much larger animals. They may not be good with cats but can live with other animals if well socialized. They may still become aggressive towards unfamiliar animals. They are friendly towards people, but mouthy, and can easily become nippy. If this dog doesn't like something, it will let you know.

Training: The Chiwoxy may be somewhat challenging to train. They need firm, gentle, patient, consistent training. Having experience with other terrier breeds is a plus as the terrier personality traits are very apparent. This dog is intelligent, eager and can learn very quickly, but as it is also very stubborn and willful. They may elect to ignore some training without regular reinforcement. They do not respond well to harsh punishments of any kind and may respond by becoming aggressive. Consistent positive-reinforcement methods work best. Mat-training works best for housebreaking.
Behavior: The Chiwoxy is a feisty, active, aware and very curious dog. They tend to be fearless and need good supervision to keep them from getting into unsafe situations. They need constant stimulation or they can become easily bored and solves this for itself by becoming destructive. They are very playful and like to rough-house. They are hearty chewers for a relatively small dog and have been known to destroy toys very quickly.
Barking: The Chiwozy can be quite 'talkative'. They tend to bark often in a somewhat high-pitched, yappy tone.
Weather: The Chiwoxy is comfortable in cooler weather due to their thick coat but this is a smaller dog so prolonged exposure to cold is not safe. They do not do well in the heat. Give them plenty of fresh water and watch for signs of overheating.
Exercise: The Chiwoxy needs lots of regular activity and exercise.
Physical Ability: The Chiwoxy is a quick, energetic and very agile dog. They are excellent jumpers who can leap 3 feet or more with a running start.
